did find one individual who had been hit by the train and was pronounced dead at the scene. ironically, it was a police officer who was responding to the scene and somehow he got injured. he was transported from the scene with non life-threatening injuries. they have set up a bus bridge to owings mills mall because of the shutdown of the rail system. i am captain roy taylor. >> a new and disturbing motive is emerging tonight in the cafeteria shooting at perry hall high school. >> attorneys for robert gladden jr. now say he went to the school armed with a shotgun because expected and desired to be killed. david collins is live in towson tonight with more on the story. >> court testimony revealed that gladden is on a suicide

watch. he arrived in a black t-shirt with rock republic written on the back. according to his attorney, 15- year-old robert gladden went to perry hall high school armed with a shotgun and 21 rounds of ammo because he expected and desired to be killed. >> the primarily was motivated to commit suicide by cop. what he was doing was acting out in a terrible fashion in the hopes that somebody other than him would pull the trigger for him and he would then paris. >> one of his attorneys had previously said he took the gun to school to intimidate bullies and had no intention of pulling the trigger. baltimore county investigators could not confirm claims that gladden is a victim of bullying. 17-year-old daniel bowery -- daniel borowy suffered a gunshot wound to his back and was just

recently released from the hospital. according to the indictment, several others suffered minor injuries during the commotion. gladden looked just like this photo as he arrived at circuit court in towson for a bail review. he was charged with attempted first-degree murder. doctors examine his mental health. his attorneys tell the judge he is on a suicide watch. his attorneys asked for a postponement of the bail review until they had a chance to look at the doctors' report. they also asked the judge to order a report on his own life. they will use all that information to argue for bail. >> the base will begin the basic issue is the fact that he is -- the basic issue is that he can be rehabilitated. these are the kind of things the corps will be asked to consider it some point. >> according to his attorneys, he asked about daniel and

expressed relief when he was told that he was going to be ok. he also told his attorneys he would like to tell him in person how much he regrets his own behavior. >> meanwhile, baltimore county school officials are said to rollout a new building security plan that will be shared with teachers and top school staff. tim tooten is live in the newsroom with more on the story. you talked about metal detectors being used. is this plan -- >> the school superintendent says he wants to cast the net regarding safety and security. there have been two major gun incidents in baltimore county since the first day of school. one at perry hall high school in the school cafeteria, and just a few days ago, a student showed up with a loaded gun at stemmers run middle school, where he threatened his teacher and a class all of students.

school officials have called mandatory meetings with teachers and top staff from across the county to lay out a new approach to safety and security. >> tomorrow there will be information coming out that will help them to not only understand what their role is, but also to help the students understand what their role is. i believe a part of becoming out for the parents as well. >> an updated reporting system for staff and students, even an anonymous tip line, and they will talk about the role of a soon to be hired safety and security director. the teachers' union supports any training in place to help make schools safer. >> a lot of the issues have to do with warning times in advance and really paying attention, and knowing what to pay attention to. you can say a child comes to you and says so and so is doing this on facebook, i am concerned.
